Destination: Exploration

Days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer. You’ve got an itch to venture out and explore...

The solution is simple. Find your Spring Fever fix in HBURG.

Known as the Hub City, Hattiesburg is an hour to two hours from five major cities, including Jackson, Meridian, Mobile, MS Gulf Coast, and New Orleans, making it the perfect destination for a day trip, weekend getaway, a visit to a local attraction, or dinner at a new restaurant!

Travelling to HBURG is as easy as 1,2,3. Of course, you can bring your own car by way of I-59, Hwy 49, or Hwy 98, but Hattiesburg also has daily Amtrak trains and Greyhound buses from Laurel and New Orleans. Both of these will land you right in the heart of Downtown Hattiesburg with shopping, history, art, food, and music all around. The Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport even has service to and from Chicago via American Airlines every day.

Once you make it to HBURG, what are the hotspots and can’t miss things?

If you’re only here for a day, grab a bite to eat at one of our 200 local dining options and then visit the Hattiesburg Zoo, take a self-guided walking tour of Downtown’s art or architecture, or step back in time at one of our two military museums. Here’s a look at categorized eateries:

Plan your whole weekend in HBURG, starting with live music on Friday nights in Town Square Park at Live at 5. This free, outdoor concert features a variety of genres, local food vendors, and cold beer!

Saturdays are perfect for shopping and outdoor activities, like a bike ride down the Longleaf Trace or a collegiate game! HBURG is home to two major universities – Southern Miss and William Carey – so there’s always a sporting event happening.

If it’s the first weekend of the month, experience Mississippi’s most unique shopping event at The Lucky Rabbit, located less than a block from Southern Prohibition brewery and the Mercury Pizza food truck.

Before heading out, Sunday brunch is a must. A number of our local restaurants are known for their brunch options, like Crescent City and its bottomless mimosas or Glory Bound Gyro Co.’s delicious bloody marys! You can also enjoy live music while you dine at Hattiesburgers and Blues or T-Bones Café for brunch.
