Hattiesburg Commissions Raising Funds for Tourism Relief

HATTIESBURG (Feb. 13, 2017)— Starting today, Feb. 13, the Hattiesburg Tourism and Convention Commissions are selling HBURG branded items in order to raise tornado relief funds.

Merchandise for sale includes HBURG logo shirts, bike bottles, silicon pint cups, fanny packs, blankets, HBURG art prints, and printed totes. This HBURG merchandise will be available for
purchase at four locations until Sunday, March 12: Hattiesburg Visitor’s Center, Hattiesburg Zoo, Historic Saenger Theater, and the African American Military History Museum.

“It is important to us at VisitHattiesburg to support our community during this time of recovery and rebuilding for those individuals, families, and organizations impacted by the tornado last month. The sale of these HBURG items will serve a dual purpose—raising funds for the tornado relief and showcasing the unity of the community in which we live by promoting the HBURG brand,” Rick Taylor, executive director for Hattiesburg Tourism and Convention Commissions, said.

Those who purchase silicon “sili" pint cups will receive a free soft drink at the concession stand at the Zoo, USO, or Saenger Theater. Additionally, Zoo visitors who wear their HBURG shirt will receive a free ticket to ride the train.

In addition to raising funds through the sale of these items, the USO is asking for donations during its Black History Month programming to give to recovery and relief in Hattiesburg. The museum is also giving all guided tour fees received during the month to the efforts.

“HBURG is our home, passion, and commitment.”
