The Hattiesburg JuneTeenth Festival

The Juneteenth Festival is a free two-day event held at Vernon Dahmer Park. It’s a celebration of freedom and unity that transforms Hattiesburg’s atmosphere. On May 31st our Flag Raising Ceremony precedes the festival. Followed by two days of fun filled experiences, culminating with a big firework show on June 19th.

Where Celebration Happens

Hattiesburg's Juneteenth Celebration kicks off with a big parade beginning at the Hattiesburg Police Department, winding through the city, and arriving at Vernon Dahmer Park. This event features live music, four tournaments, a car show, booths, a kids zone, and a variety of delicious foods, all within a family-friendly, community environment.

What to Expect

• Flag Raising Ceremony: Join us on May 31, 2025, as we raise the American and Juneteenth flags in solidarity with our commitment to freedom, unity, and equity. We will also honor our ancestors and the military for their contributions to society.

• Parade: Decorate that ride or create a float and jump into our free unity and freedom parade. It starts at the Hattiesburg Police Department and ends at Vernon Dahmer Park

• Live Music: Enjoy live music by local, regional and national artist covering, various genres to quench your musical thirst, including: Gospel, R&B and Blues.

• Tournaments: Enjoy the sportsmanship, competition and great comradery at the tournaments. This event features; adult softball, basketball, cornhole and pickleball tournaments.

• Kinds Zone: There’s lots for the kiddies to do: swimming, water slide, bounce houses, fun games, playground and a portable arcade.

• Vendors: Food and Arts & Crafts vendors line the park. Savor a variety of culinary delights from local and visiting vendors from across the South. Shop with art & craft vendors; t-shirts, hats, clothing, decorative creations, novelty items, and more.

• Car and Bike Show: Break out that antique, vintage auto, chopped out car or bike and enter into the BIG CAR SHOW!

• Fireworks: On June 19th at 8:30 pm, the 2025 Juneteenth Celebration will close with a fabulous FIREWORKS SHOW!!!

• Fun-Family-Friendship: Bring the whole family! This event is designed for all ages, with plenty of space for kids to play and adults to relax.
