Your Football Weekend in HBURG

Welcome to Hattiesburg, football players, coaches, families, and fans! We know you’ll be busy cheering on your favorite team and setting your sights on a state championship, but between, before, or after the games, get out and explore the Hub City! We’ve compiled a list of must-do, must-eat, and must-see things for you to make the most out of your visit to Hattiesburg.

Topping the list of things to do is First Saturday in Downtown Hattiesburg happening on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021 throughout the day. This is a day where downtown businesses host their own unique events and there’s always something new to discover during First Saturday from block parties, outdoor markets to gallery openings.

Next up is opening weekend of Lights of the Wild at Hattiesburg Zoo. Presented by Jones Companies, this brand-new event features larger-than-life animal sculptures decked in holiday lights, unlimited train and carousel rides, animal encounters, Santa photos, and more. The perfect family outing! Purchase tickets in advance or at the gate.

There’s plenty of fun for everyone in HBURG. Beat the clock to break free at College Town Escape Rooms, or kick back at one of two movie theaters. The Longleaf Trace, which has a launch point on Southern Miss’ campus, is ideal for biking or walking/running off that nervous game-day energy.

Hattiesburg was recently named a top 25 holiday shopping destination by Expedia, so this is the ideal weekend to work on your Christmas list! Fill your basket at Simply Vintage, located in West Hattiesburg, or #GetDowntown to The Lucky Rabbit. You’ll find one-of-a-kind treasures, boutique clothing, handmade gifts, and more at these two unique, local shops! The Lucky Rabbit welcomes you to their picture-perfect "Roseburg Motel" set and the Griswald family car, complete with a live Christmas tree! You may even spot Santa and his elf. All those touchdowns are sure to work up an appetite! Walk (or drive) across the street to The District at Midtown, where you will find craft donuts, sushi, chicken salad, popcorn, and The Midtowner diner. Want to venture out into Hattiesburg more? Get Downtown to try Glory Bound Gyro Co., Fairley’s Wings, Coney Island Café (cash only), or The Depot Kitchen & Market. Head west on Hardy Street, to try Half Shell Oyster House, Tabella Scratch Italian, or the Keg & Barrel.

Let’s be honest though. A stop in HBURG wouldn’t complete if you didn’t try one of our many burgers or coffee hotspots. Check out the HATTIES{BURGER} Trail to try the best burgers in town and don't forget to try one of our coffee shops to get your caffeine fix!
