FestivalSouth in HBURG

FestivalSouth, Mississippi’s only multi-week, multi-genre festival, is celebrating its 13th season in Hattiesburg June 2 - 25, 2022. Each week offers different events that introduce many different art forms to attendees, such as performance, theater, storytelling, craft brewing, dance, musical, and more!

We’ve done the hard work and put together an itinerary for your June weekends in Hattiesburg, centered on FestivalSouth’s signature events!

Opening weekend starts off with a bang with multiple performances of The Play That Goes Wrong, a Tony and Olivier Award-winning play from the producer of Avenue Q and Something Rotten! Before the show, grab a bite to eat at Robert St. John’s Crescent City Grill, offering an array of cajun-creole dishes.

A late night of belly-laughter and wondering whodunit will have you needing coffee. Stop at T-Bones Cafe on your way to the Saturday morning event, Colored – A Perspective, honoring Darryl Anderson, at the Historic Eureka School.

After the reception, explore the historic downtown district. Hattiesburg’s two-story junk and vintage shop The Lucky Rabbit is only open on the weekends, so take advantage! Named a top 11 art destination in the world, Hattiesburg has an impressive trail of murals and sculptures scattered through the city, so take look at the HBURG Art Trail to get inspired.

Leash up your four-legged friend for the Dog Days 5K run and 2-mile walk bright and early on Saturday morning! We recommend carb-loading at Trattoria Pizzeria the night before, one of Hattiesburg’s newest local eateries, and calming your mind through music at SummerTunes in Town Square Park.

Sundays are for PR - that’s code for personal recovery in Hattiesburg. Enjoy a massage at the Lotus Day Spa or stretch it out during Power Yoga & Movement’s Zen Meditation class. Fuel your body with an acai bowl or power smoothie at Chef Katie Dixon’s Birdhouse Cafe before heading home.

FestivalSouth is the largest project and fundraiser of the Hattiesburg Concert Association.

FestivalSouth returns to live and streaming events for its 13th season, opening June 2 and continuing through June 25. Grouped around the four weekends in June, art, music, theatre, and dance events are planned each Thursday through Sunday, with Artie Events for Families primarily earlier in the week. Tickets and information on both live and virtual events are available now at FestivalSouth.org.

A significant cultural and economic driver for the Pine Belt, FestivalSouth welcomes visitors to  participate and support the arts through visible attendance in the theater or via digital devices. Performances are nominally priced or free to encourage the largest turnout possible. Advance tickets to public events are strongly recommended as venue capacities may cause sell-outs.
