Brewing Up a Good Time

When you’re looking for something fun to do on your Friday afternoons and want to stay local, look no further than a tour at Southern Prohibition Brewery!

Hip and slightly edgy, SoPro is Hattiesburg’s local brewery, which has rapidly been growing its fan base since opening its doors in 2013. The microbrewery is based in Downtown Hattiesburg and is known for its original brews like Suzy B, Devil’s Harvest, Mississippi Fire Ant, Jack the Sipper, and more. Since its opening, Hattiesburg restaurants and distributors quickly realized what a great product was being crafted right down the road and sales spread across state lines. Fans of SoPro beer can find their beers in neighboring states like Louisiana, Alabama, and Tennessee.

For those wanting to go behind the scenes, Southern Prohibition offers tours each Friday and Saturday. Don't worry if you're not already a "craft beer aficionado"-Southern Prohibition tours allow guests to try six different beers in a relaxed setting. Brewery tours last approximately 40 minutes each at a cost of $8, which includes a souvenir sampling glass and the six 6 oz tastings for those 21 and older. Kids, however, are welcome to attend for free!

Outside, Southern Prohibition offers yard games, such as cornhole and horseshoes, and keeps a freezer full of popsicles to make for a perfect visit. Whether you visit on a balmy summer afternoon or a crisp fall evening, you'll enjoy soaking in the fun atmosphere of SoPro and learning about the brewing process with new friends.

And if you've already toured SoPro, don't be afraid to go back! The Brewery frequently partners with local businesses for events throughout the year, including Yoga @ the Taproom, pub crawls, Sip and Swing, and Tapas, Taps, and Lagniappe. SoPro also hosts a yearly Christmas party which has become the talk of the town!
