Batter Up!

So, your team is taking the field against the Golden Eagles or the William Carey Crusaders. You’ve packed your gear for a weekend in the Hub City. Welcome to #BaseBURG! While you’re here, we’ve compiled a list of must-do, must-eat, must-drink, and must-see things for you to make the most out of your visit to Hattiesburg.

Hattiesburg Zoo recently opened an Australian exhibit just in time for baseball fans to visit! Walk through the interactive, barrier-free exhibit featuring wallabies, emus, and KuneKune pigs… if you’re lucky you might even get to pet them! (Please stay on the designated path… you weren’t raised in a barn!)

Looking for something indoors? Jump around at UpDown Trampoline Park, solve a puzzle to break free at College Town Escape Rooms, or enjoy Mercury Pizza and beer at our own craft brewery Southern Prohibition. Tours are available on Saturdays from 2-5PM on the hour.

If it’s the first weekend of the month, you’ve picked the perfect weekend to shop HBURG! Fill your basket at Simply Vintage, located in West Hattiesburg, or #GetDowntown to The Lucky Rabbit. You’ll find one-of-a-kind treasures, boutique clothing, handmade gifts, and more on this unique shopping extravaganza!

Blues, Brews, and BBQ? Murky Waters has all three! This new-to-Hattiesburg restaurant is just minutes away from campus, offers mouth-watering BBQ, great drink choices and live music on select nights.

A stop in HBURG wouldn’t complete if you didn’t try one of our many burgers hotspots. Check out this post about the best burgers in town!

Crescent City Grill is one of Hattiesburg’s best fine dining options. From crawfish to seafood gumbo to shrimp po-boys and everything in between, Crescent City’s menu can’t be beat.

Sunday game? We’ve got your brunch plans covered. Fuel up for a day full of baseball at Cotton Blues, T-Bones Records & Cafe, Town Square Cafe & Bakery, Glory Bound Gyro Co., or Dis & Dem Hattiesburg. T-Bones and Dis & Dem feature live music at brunch.

The FREE Hattiesburg Trolley runs from Fraternity Row on USM’s campus throughout Downtown from 6PM – 2AM on Fridays and Saturdays, making stops at all the local bars along the way, including Patio 44, Mahogany Bar, and the Keg & Barrel. Or hop off at one of our many bustling live music venues like Brewsky’s, Blu Jazz Café, The Porter, or Front Street Bar.

If you’re still not sure about how to hit it out of the park in HBURG, the Visitors Center is open from 9AM – 5PM Monday through Saturday. We are happy to answer any questions or give directions.
