Marlo Dorsey is the executive director for VisitHATTIESBURG, where she leads Hattiesburg’s tourism and destination marketing efforts. Since October 2017, she and her team have focused on growing business and leisure travel in Hattiesburg through multi-state marketing campaigns, regional sales strategies, and cooperative alliances with Hattiesburg’s hotels and tourism partners. Recently the team won DMO of the
Year, Tourism Promotion of the Year, and the Tourism Resilience Award for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.


Previously, Marlo served as the director of marketing and communications for both VisitHATTIESBURG and the Hattiesburg Convention Commission.


Marlo was also the Mississippi Development Authority’s chief marketing officer. Here, she led the state’s global marketing and communications efforts for both economic development and tourism. At MDA, she was named to the public relations team for the 10-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and created several award-winning marketing
campaigns. Marlo was part on the executive team that helped create nearly 20,000 new jobs in Mississippi and attracted more than $3 billion in private sector investment from 2012 through 2015.


Prior to MDA, Dorsey was the vice president of marketing for Jones County Junior College (JCJC) and was the CEO of Cybergate Internet Services, a family startup company that provided internet and website services to more than 5,000 monthly subscribers in the late 1990s.


Marlo currently serves as Immediate Past President of the Mississippi Tourism Association, Treasurer of the Mississippi Main Street Association, and an executive board member for the Downtown Hattiesburg Association. Additionally, she was a founding member of the
Mississippi Destination Marketing Association and serves on the advisory boards for both VisitMisissippi’s dedicated funding and the restart MS Covid-19 task force locally and statewide.


Marlo earned a broadcast journalism degree from Louisiana State University and later received an MBA in executive management. She is a graduate of Leadership Mississippi and has served on its advisory board. Dorsey was also recognized as a 2017 50 Leading Woman by the Mississippi Business Journal.
